The Accreditation Council for Higher Education (ACHE) has accredited University of Honolulu for on campus and Distance education programs towards diploma, Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degrees. ACHE is a governmental organization in the Kingdom of Wallis and Fatuna with offices maintained in the Kingdom. It is an independent, national, institutional accrediting council recognized by the Ministry of Education of Kingdom of Wallis and Fatuna Islands. ACHE it is a statutory body and currently it is under the portfolio of the Minister of Education and Culture.

ACHE has been the standard-setting agency for correspondence study and distance education institutions, its purpose being "to foster and preserve high quality, educationally sound and widely accepted distance education and independent learning institutions".

Distance study institutions located outside the Kingdom are eligible to apply for accreditation. The opportunity to apply for accreditation is open to private and public distance education institutions, both at the degree and non-degree levels.

ACHE member institutions offer more than 400 different academic, and a vocational courses by mail or by telecommunications. These courses often make use of specially written learning texts and quite often include audio-visual training devices, job enhancing materials, tools, computers, and other equipments. Course length ranges from a few weeks to over four years of study. Although most distance study institutions teach students entirely "at distance", some institutions offer courses which feature a combination of distance study and resident training.
