I have been working in an airlines
industry for over 10 years. During that time, the University
of Honolulu name has become well known to me. It is
well respected in Arts & science courses throughout
the world. So when I was researching where to study
for a MBA, the UH seemed like a logical choice and the
course context was broadly based around my field of
expertise.

Having worked with a cooling system
projects for 7 years, I wanted to develop a Management
career by combining experience with professional skills.
The MBA in Marketing was the best course on the road
to my career dreams.
The highlight of the course so far
has been very positive. The course is founded on practical
approach. Through simulation exercises and case studies,
students are not only exposed to field experience but
are brought together and learn to work as a team.
This makes them confident in their
presentations and earns them a credit from students.
After my successful completion of the program, I will
share the experience I am gaining with my friends, and
I hope to share it with the larger spectrum of Society.
To link the practical experiences that I have gained
in the field and equate it with educational qualifications
i.e. the Master's course.

I came on the course for a change in
my career's direction. Business Management is new and
I think I have finally found something in Business Development
Studies that I really have an interest in doing, because
it will make a difference to the lives of many people.
What I liked about the course is that
it has very comprehensive, very good texts and learned
people as well as practitioners in the field. That is
what I wanted! It covered every aspect of management.
I wanted a course that would cover each area so that
I would have a full range of options for that I wanted
to do.

Before coming, I looked around at all
the courses on offer, and decide that this was the most
comprehensive and useful for my needs. Secondly, I needed
a post-graduate degree, and the content of this course
is very closely related to my expertise.
To learn the subject systematically
and upgrade my present knowledge of the subject to a
high level. To obtain high education certificate to
build up my strengths to meet the requirements of my
present organisation. This degree will add great value
to my future career.

In some ways, this has been something
of a personal journey. Many of the impossible choices
and difficult decisions that I have documented are similar
to the ones that we faced as a faculty.
I feel a personal investment in the outcome of this
research. But the research project has also been inspiring
on an academic level. Literature does not exist separate
from a culture - it reflects the culture, fuels it,
and helps to shape how we see ourselves. The main focus
of my dissertation is an attempt to examine the way
in which racial and sexual factors interact in the oppression
of women.
It's been an adventure. One that I
strongly recommend to anyone dreaming of writing either
for fun or money. It's been a pleasure working with
UH.
They know when to be brutally sincere
and when to be a sympathetic and supportive mentor.
I've enjoyed every minute of my three-year research

I learned a lot. Wonderful and very
responsive lessons. I found it very challenging. it
made me think and plan creatively, which is exactly
what a programming language course should do. While
not giving actual solutions to the problems I had, the
answers to my questions lead me to reason in the right
direction and solve the problem myself. This enhances
the learning experience tremendously.

University is all about finding yourself.
I chose UH for two reasons. First, its academic reputation
as a well established center of excellence, and second
its outstanding courses. Academically I was stimulated
by the variety of courses available and they're cross
cutting interdisciplinary nature. The support, guidance
and enthusiasm of faculty at all levels were truly unprecedented
and greatly appreciated. I enjoyed the experience so

The course has involved a lot more
practical hands on experience than other universities
seem to offer. This means we get to see all the different
problems that can arise and get plenty of practice of
applying the techniques we have learnt.

the range and research students often help us out so
we get their experience and points of view as well.

I chose UH because of its academic
reputation and the flexibility in its degrees. The research
paper and management plan contributed significantly.
They gave an opportunity to put into practice some of
the learning's.
The "hands on" approach to
practical sessions encourages independence, and developed
my understanding of how the theory taught in lectures
applies to lab-based work. Without the experience I
gained during my years at I would highly recommend a
degree in Bio-statistics, as it has provided me with
many transferable skills required in my chosen profession
and allowed me to gain the confidence to take my studies
one step further.

SIMPLY MARVELOUS! I'm a professor and
I learned how to apply what I learned in a very short

The PhD program here is tough but rewarding.
The supervisors are well known and respected, and through
them I have made some very important contacts in both
academia and industry. The Research students for PhD

Just as I am ``catching on'' to the
developments in my field and producing some new results,
it is time to finish the program and think about the
next step. My only regret is there is so much more I
could learn from my advisor and others.

My graduate experience was extremely
positive. During the time in my current position, I
have been involved in consulting & discussing research
projects with PhD's. I am always impressed by the breadth
of the curriculum in relative to the backgrounds I see
from recent PhD's.
The standard, and elective, coursework
allowed for a broad range of student interests; applications,
theory and computing were available for study at a variety
of levels. I was able to do independent studies in two
different PhD-level topics besides what I eventually
researched for my PhD.
The colloquium series covered a wide
range of topics presented by good speakers. The teaching
and advising were very good and showed interest in me
personally and my progress towards the degree.

I like the flexibility of the PhD program,
with choice of core courses, as for me this meant that
all the courses I took were ones I knew I would find
interesting and useful.
When I first heard about UH, the UH
has been involved in setting up three interdisciplinary
groups (Electronics, communication, Engineering Management
sciences). This is a great development for students,
providing additional sources of resources for cultivating
research interests in these applications of electronics.

I found the MSc nursing degree very
useful and realised that I would like to focus more
on research, that's how I decided to apply for a research
degree.
That, along with the School's excellent
reputation as a research center, made me apply to the

I am now in my second year of the PhD.
My topic is
Effectiveness of Lifestyle modification by teaching
on hypertension among hypertensive patients in chennai.
I am based in community college in Riyadh and my supervisor
is M. Nizar Hussain Lecturer, department of applied
medical science community college Riyadh.
So far I find the School very supportive
and the expertise of my supervisor assures that my research
progresses smoothly. Another positive factor here is
the friendly relationship that exists between research
students. The fact that each student is allocated an

a more open, supportive environment to work in.

In many academic fields, graduates
face an uncertain job market. IT, however, is a happy
exception. Many of the graduates of this department
take jobs in industry and many more elect to stay in
academia.
I have never heard of any graduate
who had any worries about finding a job. People who
are interested in career counseling have several sources
available to them.
Getting involved with the Research
project offered me the opportunity to network with a
large team of researchers, students and stakeholders
who share common interests and to exchange knowledge
and ideas around common topics of research. As an international
student in India, this experience has been extremely
helpful and enriching, both at personal and academic
levels. It has also been very interesting to participate
in the dynamics of a project, which involving such a
large and diversified group of participants, poses unique
organizational challenges and requires innovative solutions
in order to achieve the full participation of all its
members, which I think has been a very successful aspect
of UH so far.
Research Project I have taken really
helped with increasing my understanding of what the
PhD process is about and where the viva fits in. Thanks.

As a postgraduate I was always very
impressed with the high standard of course material
and diversified knowledge available to me.
The enthusiasm of the co- students
and their intuition regarding my needs and ambitions
led me to apply to continue my studies within the School.
At quite an early stage of my learning I realised that
I wanted to continue studying, specifically in the area
of finance management.
I have always been very passionate about learning and
felt that an MBA would be both the most challenging
and rewarding way to express this. I also believed that
continuing to study in Rajarajan Academy would be a
very positive, informative and enjoyable experience.
So far, that is exactly what I have
found - my supervision is excellent, the support staffs
are extremely helpful, and the facilities are also very
good. In short, I believe that the Academy is an excellent
center of learning and research and look forward to
spending the next three or so years here for PhD program.

I was apprehensive about coming to
the Rajarajan Academy given its well-renowned reputation
for excellence. However, I have found it to be a very
informal, friendly and helpful institution.
The strong academic atmosphere helps
to sustain motivation and inspire creative thought.
The seminars given in the academy are of the highest
quality and invaluable to my research into the Impact
of WTO on south Asian textiles Industry.
I joined the research program in 2003
and am currently researching in the area of textile
industry. As a PhD student I have settled in easily
with the help of the Academy staff who have been helpful,
friendly and academically stimulating. The Diploma in

has been greatly enhanced by the research environment
and expertise available within the University.

I choose this MBA because it gave me
all the choice I wanted. I was able to pick from a long
list of options and there was a great deal of flexibility
in the way courses were registered to ensure that requirements
were met. My programme also split my MBA into 12 modules
and my dissertation so that everything did not ride
on the latter which meant that if one thing did not
go do well it was not the end of the world.
I've been to several universities -
boring and lecture based and difficult to apply because
of how they are taught. This course - unlike many other
similar courses - provides useful, practical and inexpensive
ways to learn.
I loved the course! Very informative

university of Honolulu courses.

Having finished my school, I decided
to increase my employability by taking a four yeas Engineering
degree in Information Technology. I chose UH not only
because it offered the course I was looking for, but
also because of its recognised excellence and history.
When I was looking for a university,
employability of its students was a big factor - it
is no good doing a degree if there is no job at the
end of it. I also looked into results of subject reviews
and ended up picking finally UH

I chose to do a PhD in Management science
because I needed a career break from bench science and
wanted training in research methods. I chose UH because
it has a renowned national and international reputation.
It was a good choice: I have the freedom to decide the
scope of my research. The Business School has a high
research rating. It is ideal to study with someone whose
life and work I both respect.
I use to teach MBA and research methods to my students.
I was enthusiastic about the lessons and the types of
modules offered for PhD. I was impressed by the variety
and depth of material that could be covered in a single
year of study, depending on the modules chosen. I completed
my research on the role of training and development

Having completed my BBA degree in management,
my aim was to deepen my studies in the field of Business
Administration with a MBA, was strongly recommended
to me as an excellent place, both academically as having
one of the classics schools in the country, as well
as being a charming place of study in India.
The academic recommendations were absolutely
right: I found an excellent academic community with
a warm, welcoming atmosphere and many people who provided
a lot of encouragement and help, both academically as
well as personally. Small groups in the seminars and
lectures, additional postgraduate seminars and preparatory
courses about research methods and IT -skills, provided
a good basis. As a postgraduate I very much felt like
being treated as part of a wider academic world, and
the support I received from my supervisor as well as
from other members of the department was so great that
I decided to continue my studies with a MBA.

Awesome! Quite fast but comprehensible,
enjoyable and useful. The course takes a large amount
of info and boils it down to an overview of what you
really need. I didn't get bored, tired or 'numb bum.'
It kept our brains active and interested and questioning.
Astounding! Remarkable and inspiring
to see how one can learn these techniques in such a
short period of time, remember them, and apply them
straight away!
I especially value what I learned about
the brain's ability and how it is best stimulated. Compared
to other courses, which - from what I have heard - are
dull, redundant and exploitive this was energizing,
encouraging and truly behavior-altering.
The methods taught will give me the
confidence for effective learning, and the simplifying
of language-learning will prevent the overwhelming feelings
This was the best of all classes or
courses that I have ever taken because it was vivid,
vigorous, entertaining and refreshing."
"Great Interaction! I enjoyed

I must say that I enjoy the independence
that is given to graduate students. I had clear research
goals before I came here, and was pleased to discover
that I was encouraged to explore my own ideas to their
fruition. For American students who are used to a structure
of regular exams, classes and assignments, one's education
at might seem dauntingly self-regulating at first, but
this is to my thinking one of its greatest benefits.
Students are expected to explore their own ideas, and
seminars in the department are simply a means to that
end. I would advise students who want to do postgraduate
work at UH to have clear research goals in mind before
arriving because, to invoke the old cliché, what
you put into the experience is what you get out.

As a mature student with three young
children, I was very apprehensive about pursuing a PhD.
However, I can honestly say that the School provided
me with tremendous support throughout the 3 year Doctoral
program. The School has a very strong research culture
in which 'young' researchers are nurtured and helped
to reach their full potential. I think that it would
be very difficult to find another institution offering
doctoral students such excellent facilities and academic
support.
One of the main strengths of this department
is its interdisciplinary flavor and broad range of expertise.
The faculty here are interested in almost all aspects
of statistics, including applications in the social
sciences, biology/genetics, environmental studies, computer
science, and many others. One of the hardest tasks is
to choose one topic to research from the many available.
The thing that has most impressed me
is the amount of time many members of the faculty through
online are willing to spend teaching. Several of the
professors have their doors open at all times (often
well into the evening and/or on weekends) and are quite
pleased to answer questions and discuss problems, whether
or not the subject matter is directly related to their
research or courses.

The School of

The course itself
has a really broad base. You study theory, graphic design,
photography, programming, physics, applied mathematics
and more. The course helps you find where your skills
are and you to learn to exploit those skills through
the project work you do.
After working
for two years before coming to the University, I didn't
think the course would be so helpful and practical -
and in that way it has exceeded my expectations. I can
really see how the work I have been doing on the course
relates to real situations.

I feel refreshed

I am more motivated to move to another country now.
This was more engaging and more fun that any course
I have taken. I enjoyed all the interaction with fellow
students online .
Overall I learned more about myself
and the way I interact with others than I ever thought
I would. Mistakes I made (during the practice sessions)
only encouraged me to do better and gave me a realistic
view of how to create a curriculum. There was never
a dull moment, a wasted second, and never a doubt in
my mind of the usefulness or practicality of what I
was learning.

I have taught several undergraduate

from students has been very favorable and appreciative,
especially from women who are at home raising kids,
business people who travel a lot, and those who are

am particularly pleased that if a course is well designed,
it can actually be a better learning experience (due
to student-student and student-teacher interaction)
than on-campus classes.

"Teaching online closes
the gap between teacher and student availability. Students
can ask a question anytime, and I can answer as soon
as I log on. A course tool capture students' assignments
and keeps them available to them for review throughout
the course. Learning online develops writing skills
and confidence. Our imaginations are improved too. I
enjoy teaching online so much I even use the technology
in campus classes."

"Online teaching has given
me the opportunity to impact, and be impacted by, a
diversity of students that I would never have in a traditional
classroom.
The interaction and learning
that occurs in my online courses continually uplifts
me and makes me glad I am a teacher."

Prof. M. A. Dorairangaswamy, MS PhD
Prof of computer science

I also enjoyed this course very
much. One reason is that I discovered that it really
is possible for academic courses to simulate complex
workplace writing situations. While teaching this course,
I would meet with students several weeks in a row to
teach basic principles of management. Then we would
spend several weeks away from the classroom, so that
the students could work on projects from start to finish
all on their own.

"My students have done better than I've ever seen;
they are motivated, enthused, and doing their best work."
"I sense a heightened level of enthusiasm in my
students."
"Introverts, who are quiet in the face-to-face
class, really participate online."
"I was tired of hearing myself talk. This gets
so much more student interaction."
"Discussions are good, both in and out of class."
